picking ratty names is hard - there are so many to choose from but you're off to a good start!
Some people wait to get their rats then "let the rats tell them what their names are" lol - or if you end up with a big list of names, keep them handy and see which one suits the rat/s most.

I do both things.... I find that rat names tend to come to me, if I wait, that are perfect for that rat... Sometimes I will choose a name that then gets changed because something better that suits the rat comes to mind ... I'm sure that sometimes the rats actually tell me what they want to be called... Example - I had a DU boy who I had named Star Drinker (most of my DU's get a star name or something similar) ... Anyway one day I picked him up and said "hello Squid" .. he had his named changed then to Squid because thats what seemed to suit him and he learnt that name really fast... But I also have a book with a list names in that I like and when I pick a name I then tick it or highlight it so I know I have already used it once..

My rats' names just came to me. I had several other names picked out for them, but I didn't use any of them. Cookie, Bonny and Pepper practically yelled their names at me, whereas Katie, Anna and Silver went through a few changes before I found names that suited them.

I named my First 2 rats
Nibbles Oscar
Nibbles came to be because the first time i picked her up, she sat in my hand, then ran over to my fingers and started licking and nibbling (not hard) on them.
Oscar came to be because he is a very laid back sort of rat.. pretty content to just sit in your lap or on your shoulder grooming himself of chewing a snack, rather than running around the place like squirrel on speed the way Nibbles does. Oscar just seemed to fit a laid back sort of rat like him!
I do plan to get 2 more rats in the next month or so, but I will wait to meet them before I name them. I think naming a pet is important, and dont want to give them names that dont fit!

that is soo true. you have to know the personality of the rat, or any pet for that matter, before you name it. its just a general rule i think, other wise the name just wouldn't suit!

Hi Guys, We named ours Amy. I think she looks like an Amy, Don't you? Your Amy is the dead spit image of my Donna. We named our rats Bella and Donna - my husbands sense of humour... LOL
