Hey hey I'm cass, from Townsville. Well, I have 6 ratties at the moment (four that need to get rehomed). Basically, after the real estate being ok with rats for the first two inspections, they have decided that they aren't allowed. I'm looking for homes for my sisters, Sal and Pipsqueek (about 8-10 months) and Tao and Bishonen, my boys, Sals babies. THey are six months old. All four are mink colored and real sweet tempered. The two girls I am keeping are Silk, my black hooded girl (who may or may not be pregnant- she got out of the girls cage and I found her in the boys cage) and Pi, my one eyed agouti girl. Yeah, cass is stressed out at the moment, trying to re-home rats in a town that sees them as snake food Anyways, that is about it from me. I'm going to be attempting to find homes for them here or seeing if Lou has room at BRR.

aww it's horrible that you can't keep them all. does the real estate not mind you keeping the two?

Its more that it is easier to hide a cage for two rats then two cages (four in one, two in the other). I wish I could keep them all, but it really isn't an option at the moment Heres hoping I can rehome them. Next inspection is on the 24th of April, so I'll have to see what happens then.

Welcome to everyone that I havent welcomed yet. I have had rats now for about 18 years but am taking a little bit of a break from the rat world, which is why I am not here a great deal any more, and the other Admin - Nathan is currently taking a few years to travel so also isnt around very much. We have a number of great members here, so there is always someone to talk to about rats, whether you have some now or are looking at getting some in the future. If anyone gets to the 10 post or over and isnt given access to the full forum please email me Kim@bozzyrats.com and I will fix that. Anyway have fun, start some topics, reply to some of the current topics or older ones that havent been posted in for a while, and your post count will reach 10 before you know it. Kindest Regards, Kim

Hi all. My name is Clare and i have only been a rat lover for about 18mths. our first two rats, Barty and Lisy were the most beautiful characters i've ever met...they would give me kisses when i came home and cuddles when they knew i wasn't in the mood! Unfortunately i lost them both earlier this year I now have two new rats, jerry and nibbles. They were bought form a pet shop so needed a lot of obedience training! I'm getting there now, but joined this forum to get a little more advice on how to deal with their 'issues' etc On a personal note, i am a mum of 3 kids, married and work as a disability worker, so a very busy life! I also have a dog, 2 cats, some fishes and a murray darling carpet python.. so my house is pretty chaotic lol

Hi everyone, My name is Leah, I am in Brisbane & though I have had rats before I haven't had any for a few years. My last rats were beautiful girls & when they passed away of old age it was a big loss. I have been missing having their lovely faces around & while looking into what type/s I want to get I found this site. I am 24, live with my mother & 14 year old brother and love all types of animals, I currently personally have a dog, 2 cats, guineapigs, & breed fancy Bettas (fighting fish). I was very tempted the other day to add a beautiful little female Siamese Texel mouse the pet shop had to my menagerie but managed to restrain myself for the time being...she was very cute though

Hi all, I'm back reading the posts after about 18 months away... I have been thinking about getting rat babies for the last couple of years, but the time hasn't been right for one reason or another. Things seem to be aligning at the moment and we're seriously considering it again. I know we'd love to have rats, but I want to make sure we're ready as I don't believe in part time pet-parenting. I have quite a few questions that I need to have answered first, so I thought... Where better? asy

Hey Guys! Im Bianca but most people call me Horsegirl cause I'm absolutely obsessed with horses!! I live about an hour away from brisbane & the Goldcoast and I have 7 of horses, I also breed them (Warmbloods) and compete in Dressage. On top of that I have an immense passion for ANY animal and have in the past have almost had a menagerie LOL. Atm its just the horses, a dog and a cat. My last rat passed away a few years ago and have since been ratless. His name was Axel and unfortunately after having him for about 3 years he developed a tumor and had to be put to sleep. He was a great fella! I cant believe how much he loved being with me. He was a very good escapist and on a few occasions got out in the middle of the night, he climbed out of his cage, down the cabinet it was on, across my bedroom floor, up my bed and I would eventually wake up to find him laying on my chest!!! The first time it happened I was so drowsy I didnt know it was him, so i grabbed hold of him and ran over to the light only to be very relieved that it was just him. It scared the bajesus out of me!! I have recently quit my job due to uni and horse commitments so I have found myself with a lot of time on my hands, I also feel like there's a bit of a hole in my life so I have decided to get some ratties to fill it!! Im just in the progress of setting up a home for them and I think I've found some ratpups at a breeder that will be suitable, just waiting to hear back so I'll keep you all posted!!

Hi Horsegirl! Nice to 'meet you'! Just thought I'd mention that if you needed 'help' exercising your horses my daughter and I would gladly sacrifice ourselves to help you out... ;D hehehe We have a farm, and will have horses once we move there, but we're stuck in Brisbane for the time being, so alas we miss out. It'd be great to hear more about your horses. And your rat babies when you get them. asy

I'm Clem and I started with two female rats (Monkey and Halva). They were both great, however Halva died recently of cancer at the age of about one and half years. We have subsequently picked up two more females (Dora and Dot) to keep Monkey company. The introductions were amazingly easy - Monkey ignored them for a while and then started to grab and groom them. The babies were impressed by Monkey and started following her around.

Hi Clem, Welcome to the forum. I'm currently getting over the flu so will probably post this then have a rest. What colours are Monkey, Dot and Dora? Are they all pet shop rats or do they come from a breeder? Sorry if you have already answered these questions somewhere else, I'm sick so have a good reason for not knowing that.. lol..
