To get into the rest of the forum, you will need to introduce yourself here so that we can get to know you and so we can see that you want to be an active member of this forum. So say hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and as much about your rats as you like. If you dont have rats then just tell us what made you want to own rats and why you are interested in them.

So let me be the first by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Nathan, I come from a big family of one older brother, a twin sister and 7 younger sisters. I currently have 3 pet rats. Vash - Agouti Berkshire - desexed male .. Spike - Agouti Self - desexed male .. Merrick - Agouti mm Irish - female .. They are all around 2 years old so I will probably be getting some new ratlets at some point. I'm into vampire, gothic stuff, martial arts and hunting. I spend time at a shooting range but I also like bow shooting and am pretty good at archery. I like all types of music although I am more into the lyrics of a song than the actual music, computer games, especially the Sims and the Sims 2 .. the Sims 2 is much better in the way of what you can do and see. I like surfing, swimming, clubbing, spending time with my friends and family, traveling and exploring. My father is in the military so growing up I got to travel around a great deal and that is probably where my love of travel and adventure started. Being in the military and traveling to some very dangerous places my father made sure that all of us kids are able to defend ourselves both armed and unarmed. Anyway thats a little bit about me that may help you to understand me and get to know me a little. Nathan

Fine since no one else has introduced themselves I may as well, especially being an Admin on this forum. My name is Krissy. My partner is a vet. I've had rats for 13 years but have only been breeding them for the last 8 years. For the first 5 years I just got to know about rats and tried to learn as much as I could so that when it came time for breeding them I would know exactly what I was talking about. I'm currently taking a year or two off from breeding firstly because I havent had a break for a while and secondly I have two young daughters to care for as well and its currently hard to concentrate on my kids and my breeding program. I currently work part time as well so dont get a lot of time for the computer but I will keep checking up on the forum when I get a chance so if you have any questions or comments let me know and I'll get back to you ASAP. Kris

My name is Leeann.
I first found my way into the rattie world by my then 15yr old daughter, who bugged me for about 2 mths to allow her to have some rats.
After doing heaps of research and asking all those before you get questions, We got our first 2 girls back in April 2005.
Since then, I have taken in a rescue from Kim, and purchased, and been given others.
Then last December, I breed my first litter of baby ratties and have loved the experience. I now have 8 girls and 4 boys, of these there is 2 girls and 1 boy available for sale (see for sale section) but if I don,t find new homes for them, they will stay here.

Hi Everybody!!!
I guess it's my turn. lol!!!
My name is Rachel, and I'm 30 years old (and happy about it I might add). I live in NSW in a semi rural area just outside Windsor. I've kept and bred rats and mice for as long as I can remember. Actually I don't think there is an animal I haven't had. lol!
I'm a bit of a herbalist, as I am into natropathy for animals. I use allot of natural remedies with great success with my animals. Plants are one of my favourite hobbies and also are my job as I am a nursery hand for an Australian Native Plant Grower. Animals and plants go hand in hand I reckon. I also work part time as a groom for Showjumping Horses, so I get to travel every now and then. From home I run a Small Animal Boarding facility for Rabbits, Rats, Mice, Guinea Pigs and Ferrets, it's the first of it's kind in Australia specifically for the little guys and it's been up and running for almost a year now.
I have spent allot of time rescuing, rehabilitating and raising both Australian Native and Domestic animals. I'm just about qualified enough to run my own Zoo actually. lol!!!
Pets? Well apart from the umteen hundred rats and my handfull of mice, I also own a Mini Foxy and a Border Collie, a Standardbred Gelding ('horse' in English), two kitty cats, an Eastern Rosella, a Corella, three rabbits, & 6 guinea pigs. I don't think I forgot anybody?
Anyway thats enough about me ;D

Hi my name is Kerri-Lynne. I've just joined (though I would like to ask, is there two of these aussie rat forums? because I could've sworn I joined another one that looked exactly the same. Is it an old forum and this the new one? There wasn't any activity on the other one that I could tell.) Anyway, I have 4 youngesters. 2 girls and 2 boys. The eldest is about 8 weeks old now I think. They're names are Henry, Henna, Jones and Jenny. They're pet shop rats but I think they're great anyway. Well bye for now.

Hi everyone, well my name is Lucie and I live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I am 22 years old and just a few weeks back, brought home my first 2 female rats - Leela and Saffie. They are pet shop rats and are so adorable. I wish their lifespan was longer! I became interested in rats when i handled my first one a month or so back in my course I am completing - Animal Studies. I may follow on with veterinary nursing or similar once complete at the end of this year. I also have a 13 year old german shep. cross kelpie named Heidi. This forum has been a great help for me! Thank you

Greetings Kerri-Lynne & Lucie There are a number of rat forums around, we did have a previous forum that was for Rats and Mice but we didnt have anyone posting about Mice so we created a new one just for rats and got rid of the old one. But that old one has been gone since about the start of this year. Anyway welcome to the forum, sorry its a bit quiet in here at the moment, I'm pretty busy with family as I have one brother and 6 sisters, so stuff like easter keeps me pretty busy. I have 3 rats myself, 2 boys, Vash & Spike and a girl, Merrick. They all live together as my 2 boys have been fixed so they cant get Merrick pregnant. They are adult rats. Please go ahead and start some topics or just jump right into the topics that are already going and dont be too worried if you dont get replies right away as sometimes people dont get a chance to visit all the time. Cheers, Nathan.

I have 3 girls that I was given because their owner no longer had time for them. They are a mink berkshire named Bubbles, a cinnamon hooded called Squeak and an unrelated cinnamon berky who I think is pregnant called Mash. They're all about a year old.

His name's Matches, he's an argente hooded from what I've been told. The girl who gave me the 3 rats still has him. I've met him, he's a very sweet boy.

Firey Vixxen here (sorry, I never give out my real name online). I originally joined this forum to gather extra info on rats, which I'm considoring getting where my living conditions become pet friendly. So, no, I don't have any rats at the moment. But my favourite varities are: Standard, Satin (Silky?), and Rex Carasilks Blues, Topaz and BEW Hooded and Solid My parents take care of my Lovebird while I'm at Uni, in return I walk their dog when I come home. I'm also a Buffy Buff, have a warped sence of humor and am kinda a loser (Yay me ) I think that's it, but if i think of anything else i'll tell you. FV
