I think you were right and Abu is dove. Zuri looks like she's black in that picture.

Hey Hey
Lets see...
My name is Tamieka but everyone calls me Mikki I'm 20 years old and live in Bendigo Victoria (a few hours away from Melbourne)
I have 2 beautiful little ratties. Dixie a 10 mth old Mink Hooded Female and her sister Bailey a 10 mth old Dove hooded Female. They mean the world to me and when im away for longer then a day i miss them like crazy.
I did have a male Agouti self named Rafe and a female black Berkshire named Amelia. Rafe was cage mates with Amelia and well the two of them started their own little Ratty family. I took Rafe to the vets to get him desexed and when i went to go and get him the vets told me that he had a cyst in his testicles which had exploded through the opperation and killed him. I was heart broken at losing my little boy, but i did have his offspring on the way to remember him by.
A week or so later after Rafe's death Amelia Gave birth to 8 beautiful healthy rattlets. 6 Female and 2 Male. All found homes rappidly with in my group of friends. Amelia the mother of the babies also went to a new home with 2 of her daughters. I couldnt keep her with Dixie and Bailey for they always faught for dominance and Amelia.. well... she didnt like not being in charge. So My friend took her and now she lives a great happy life bossing around all the other rats. hehe
Other then my Rats lets see. I wish to become a Tattoo Artist and am currently attempting to get into a drawing course and also trying to find an apprenticeship. I guess people call me a goth because of the way i dress. I love my tutus and fluffy leg warmers! I am a Raver at heart, i love the scene, the music and all the people i meet.
I cant really think of anything else to say... apart from I AM AWESOME!!! hehe
Hope to get to know most you guys out there in the Rat community!
Mikki Xxx

Hi Mikki welcome to the forum. So sorry to hear about Rafe not making it through his desexing, it's very sad when something like that happens.
Good luck with the Tattooing, that would be an awesome job. I'm looking for a tattoo artist at the moment who is good with portraits. I'm wanting to get my ratty Dexter tattooed onto me.

Hello there. My name is Alex, and I care for two pretty girls who go by the names Haydo and Scruff. I got them from a pet shop ( :/ ) so I'm not sure if they are sisters, they are both white with a tan stripe down their bodies. I'm more of a budgie girl, so my knowledge of rat varieties is, well nothing. They will be two in June (I celebrate their birthdays on the 9th).
Other than them I'm mum to gorgeous cream lab Boof. He's recently gone through surgery (swallowed a 15cm soft toy whole) and has to get his stitches taken out in a few days.
There are currently four birdies in the flock. Not long ago I lost Honey, a blue normal, to an unknown cause and I couldn't afford a necropsy. And she was so young, only four years old. The other birds are Lilly (Honeys twin, looks almost exactly the same. I could only tell them apart), Silver (blue spangle), Riley (Blue recessive pied, Silver and Lilly's daughter) and Sunny (rescued from a bad situation where he was living outside neglected in an aviary literally with dead rotting birds on the ground. He's a Lutino). Poor Sunny is always left out. He's kind of the loner of the group.
And then there's Keith. A rather large guinea pig who spends his days eating and sleeping.
About myself... I'm 13 and have lived with many different animals. When I'm older my dream is to open up a farm sanctuary (like Edgar's mission) for so called 'food' animals rescued from neglect and abuse. I've been vegan for a few months now, and vego for a few before that. I like to meet people from all over the world to talk with. I think it's great to be making friends from other countries who you never would of met in real life. Oh and I'm addicted to dragon cave x3 (an online adoptables game).

Hi Alex, welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have some wonderful pets! Having a pet with a toy stuck down his throat would be pretty scary!!

I am expecting two rats soon (have to get some freighted down as there is apparently no breeders in Tas excpt a feeder breeder who I got a couple from a couple of months ago and had many health issues). They are 2 girls and are currently only 2 weeks old. I can't wait I also own 3 chickens, 2 dogs and a cat.

Hey My name is Sammi, I'm 21 and have never had a rat before. I have a cat and a dog, so I've had experience with pets before. I've always wanted rats and am about to move out of my parents house, so I can finally get a rat! After reading what people have said, I'm thinking of getting 2 rats, but I don't know whether to get girls or boys. I don't know much about looking after rats, so any tips you can give me would be great!! Thanks

There's so much information to be found on the internet and forums are great for answering questions you have. As for boys or girls it really depends on what you'd rather - I dont see any huge benefits in getting one over the other, they have small differences, in general girls are more active and playful and boys are more relaxed and cuddly, but rats have varied personalities and you may end up with a girl whos very lazy or a boy that's very active lol. However as babies to about 6 months both will be very playful. If you have a look on places like you tube you will see some fantastic things like "super calm baby rat" or "teaching your rat to do tricks".

Hello everyone My name is Christine and I just bought my first rat two days ago. He is 8 weeks old and his name is Merlin. I have owned a mouse previously and this is my first rat and there is so much to learn. Such as not knowing I should have at least 2 rats as he will probably get lonely. I wish I had known that first! Now I'm worried he will be a sad little rat.
