awwwwwww they are soo cute!! (squeals) congrats on your absolutely gorgeous girlies So Bella is the Mink? is she berkshire too, i thought i saw white feet. and Donna is the stunning hooded, is she topaz? i never get the colours right Thanks so much for your lovely comments about my lovely ratty girls. I am a newbie to ratties so I don't have a clue about their colors etc.... but I have been wondering. Bella is a grey with lighter grey or white head area and paws and feet. I have got enough knowledge to know that Donna is hooded but don't know about the rest of her... she has a stripe down her back and a couple of spots near her tail area too. They both have beautiful natures but would by far rather be in their cage than be out and about. Hoping that they will be running around the place as they get older. They do cuddle up when we pick them up and take them out of their room but mostly they hide under my hair or in our clothes and go to sleep.

Oh, how gorgeous. The pic where one of them is peeking out of a pocket is just adorable! Oh thanks I was lucky to get that sequence .... I have been trying for weeks to get decent photos of them!

Yeah, young rats can be impossible to photograph - they're always on the go and the camera's never fast enough.
Anyway - berkshire means she'd have a white belly. The lighter bit of Bella's head is just a moult cap, it'll change as she ages.
Donna is topaz (I think. It could be argente, I have trouble telling the difference. You'd have to check her undercoat.)
You can encourage them to come out of their cage more by offering them treats while you have them out. Soon they'll be begging for attention.

Thanks for that info Bella does have a white patch on her belly and her color is definitely changing as she grows up. Donna has not changed as much. Yesterday they were really friendly and jumping up out of their play box and running up my arms and around my neck but today all they seem to have done is sleep.... very boring ratties today. Yesterday I gave them yogurt coated sultanas so maybe they just love me more for that LOL.

Hey all, Me and my sister are sharing this account as we are both very interested in rats.
We currently have two rats not quite sure on the colouring but one is a hooded male (Abu) and the other a berkshire female (Zuri). Abu is about 3 monts old and Zuri is about 5 months old.
We also have alot of other pets including a dog, cat, chickens and a fish
My sister and I love to listen to music and read fantasy novels as well as learn more about all of our pets.
We both can't wait to start posting intertesting stuff about litters or rats on sale and things like that, we also can't wait to see how many people there actually are out there that love rats just as much as we do!!
We hope we get to learn even more about rats then we do right now

Hi rune, welcome to the forum. If you post some pictures maybe we can help you identify what colours Zuri and Abu are. And of course, we love to see pictures of everyone's furries.
However you will need to get separate cages for Zuri and Abu, or get them desexed. Rats reproduce very quickly and are fertile from five weeks of age. Baby rats take a lot of looking after. All of them need to be properly socialized and they will all need loving homes.
Zuri is probably already pregnant so you are going to have babies soon. You'll need to separate them before Zuri gives birth, because female rats come into heat as soon as they have given birth, and she will get pregnant again. It is very unhealthy for female rats to have two litters so quickly, and the second litter will be very sickly because Mum will be busy trying to raise her first litter. So please separate them!

Hi Kelly Would love for someone to give us an idea of colours. We've been doing lots of reading and think Abu is a dove (although his head is lighter) and Zuri we were calling chocolate (but it doesnt seem to be a colour??) Abu and Zuri are in separate cages when we noticed Zuri get fat. We had a litter of nine on 11th Dec. The babies are a mix of hood, berkshire and unknown (light colours). We are not sure how to put up pics? but would love to show you and get some comments

Hi rune,
I'm glad to hear you have already separated Abu and Zuri, Zuri will be grateful! Have you learnt to sex the babies yet? This will be your next important job, separating the boys from the girls at 5 weeks.
This is how you post a picture: First you need to upload the picture to a site like Photobucket.com Then you need to find the direct link for the picture and copy that Then, back on the forums, press the button that looks like a picture frame Then you just insert your link between the img tags and you should be good to go.
I hope that helps and I look forward to seeing your ratties!

See how on the left of photobucket there is a place that says Share image? There are 4 links there, you just copy and paste the one that says IMG code into your post and it will show up.
Cute rattys you have there. I'm not sure on what colours the light guys would be though sorry.
