LOL.. yeah I've had both girl and boy escape artists over the years, but I find the girls do tend to do it mor eoften than the boys.

I refer to my agouti girl as a possum, because she looks a lot like one! Other than that, the general - squishies, ratkids, ratlets, raisins... and as a collective term, "the girls".

I just call them rats. I would probably call them my kids if I didn't have real human kids. I do wish there was a common cuter name to call them besides rats (just sounds like an ugly word to me).

Hmm... cuter than 'rat'? I'm lucky - I don';t have any of the negative connotations with the word, possibly because I've always had rats What about 'ratling' - i think it sounds cute possibly because I call my younger brothers and sister, 'bratlings' hehe - from when they were too small to be fully-fledged brats

I have SO many names for my girls. Roxy was always referred to as my baby girl..I had to explain to people she was my rat, not my daughter..lol. And Little Girl is my teddy bear. I have the most adorable photo of her, standing up out of her cage, looking like a cuddly bear And of course there is the way I talk to them like they were actual people. No, im not crazy.. ;D

lol, I think we talk more fondly to or about our rats than some people do about their "normal" pets like cats & dogs!!

Mine collectively are my girlie girls or the bubs. Mocha is my Mocha girl and I haven't had Amy or Dala long enough to come up with their cutesy names.

My Siamese Dumbo line are all teddy bear rats, because they're big squishes.
My Harleys are Fuzzbuckets.
My baby rats are bubs or kits.
And my hopper-stage ('tweener') rats are nunus or noodlerats.

Great thread... I'm getting some new ideas to add to my current list. I have two girls and refer to them as 'the girls' or my kids. My youngest Daisy, gets Daisy doo, or doo doo or maggot (when she's getting into things she shouldn't) and Milli gets Mill mill or simply Mill... I'm not all that creative When I need to get their attention I usaully give them kisses (make the noise) and they'll always come running... unless they're asleep. Then they'll look up and decide if I'm actually going to get them out or feed them, or if I'm just saying hi... if it's the latter, sleep always wins
