For new and experienced rat owners - do you use nicknames or cute words to describe your rats or things rat related?
i.e. when you're telling someone about your rats do you refer to them as your ratkids? I think it sounds adorable
Or when im talking to someone who knows nothing about rats i might make a reference to 'raisins' and watch their face change when you explain "what a raisin really is?"
I love calling my boys "bears" because they are so cute and furry and cuddley, not like a real bear of course but a teddy lol although i always have scratches from their claws, so maybe it is more like the real thing.
i know dapper rat has a huge dictionary, its a great read too.
anyone else have some names to share?

My rats are my kids. Sometimes ratkids, or furkids, but usually just kids Makes for interesting conversation when I tell people I need to get home to feed my kids! "Oh! How many do you have?" "10! *beams proudly*" I refer to poops as "poopies". My boys are "squishy".

definitley ratlets and squishes make their way into my vocabulary... I really like how a male rat is a buck and female is a doe. sounded odd to me at first but i quickly decided that they were very suitable. Put two and two together = Squishy Buck hehe

Wow, I feel so boring! I've always just called them rats. If I was going to call them anything cutesy it would probably be 'vermin', in a sarcastic, affectionate way. I suppose I could probably get used to calling them furballs or pellet munchers or something. I'll probably refrain from calling them kids/babies though; people already think I'm a little insane, I don't need to lie to/mislead them as well! Squishes seems a little, um, violent to me. When I feed them anything other than standard feed pellets I refer to the meals as 'treats', even if it's just bread or something (the rats seem to agree with me! ). Fur Squid and 'pile of cute' are terms which I find appealing for some reason!

Your not insane, your just having a better time in reality! Thats they way i figure it. My friends think im funny the way i carry on some times, but hey! I'm having more fun then they are. Not sure how squishes seems violent to me it means pliant and soft and furry
