When going to the cage first thing in the morning ill call for my "Rat, rat ratties" and they all poke there heads out. One of the girls is more commonly knows as FattyMcRatty cause she is much bigger than the others. Not really fat just bigger all round, and all my animals get called "Darlings"

I'll probably refrain from calling them kids/babies though; people already think I'm a little insane, I don't need to lie to/mislead them as well! Squishes seems a little, um, violent to me. LoL! Your not insane, your just having a better time in reality! Thats they way i figure it. My friends think im funny the way i carry on some times, but hey! I'm having more fun then they are. Not sure how squishes seems violent to me it means pliant and soft and furry Eccentric and quirky is one thing, but wantonly misleading people doesn't feel right to me. If it's bringing fun and enjoyment to you and your friends, power to ya! Squishes seems violent because it seems to imply that you'll be squishing them, or that they're for squishing. I've seen plenty of rats get squished/clonked, it's not the most pleasant thing.

Well we are discussing names not what we do to them. I have never squished a rat (not even accidentally) nor have i ever seen a squished rat so my interpretation of the nickname is used in adoration not cruelty Please explain wantonly misleading people?

wulfyskingdom sdaji has been banned so wont be able to reply to your question. Unfortunetly some people dont understand that this forum is here for people who want a sense of belonging to a friendly community because they love their rats just as much as everyone else here. Any members who makes sarcastic or upsetting comments, such as about rats getting actually squished or accusing people of wantonly misleading people just because of the wording they use to discribe their beloved pets, obviously doesnt have that sense of community spirit that the rest of us are here for. Sadly I recently lost all my rats. I had 3 all over 2 and a half years old. So I am not ready to get more just yet, but when I do get some I might actually name one of my boys Squish - Squishes - Squishy Something along those lines. What do you think? I've personally called my rats "Kids", "Squishes", "FurFace", "Buddies" and "FuzzyButts" Cheers Nathan

I was a bit suspicious about that person, wasnt getting a good vibe with the way they worded their posts. Thats sad to hear you've lost your babies. I'll look forward to hearing what names you give your new ones, i think a squishy / squish related name would be perfect lol My partners 'gouti boy has the nickname Puddiney, or Puddin cause he's a very sleek rat with a chubby face So much fun naming ratlets

Thats hilarious! I love that one. Better watch out - MacDonalds might hear that name and use it for a new product lol So long as it's not descriptive of the product!!! Seriously, though, it's a FUNNY name! I love it. I'm having trouble typing, I have all three boys on me at the moment, and they're running amok. I usually just call them 'the boys'. In the morning, I come out and say "good morning gentlemen of the rodent palace", and they poke their heads out and say "OK... Why are you here... and without BREAKFAST in your hand... we smell NO porridge, and we aren't getting up until we do!!! gotta luvem. asy

I dont think McDonalds will get many customers if they started serving a ratty burger or start putting rasins in their meals lol eep! Thats my favourite way of multi tasking. I have a laptop so i set it up on a portable table at the lounge and have the rats play things scattered around, and as I'm doing things on the net i'll can grab them for scritches and tummy kisses as they zoom past my lap. If I'm typing a message to a friend i say "wait, Dexter wants to say something" as he's running over my keypad and leave whatever letters he's pressed in my message. I sing a little good morning tune to them that I heard on a TV show. The higher i pitch my voice, the more excited they get... although if they could talk i'd swear they'd be saying "shut up already damnit!" hehe (im a terrible singer)

One of my girls, Galena, used to get called puddin guts, by my partner. She is one that I bred myself, so watched her grow, she got rounder and rounder, but the nickname suited her because she was a smaller rat than her sibling. she is now 18mths old and has slimmed down a little but is still smaller than her sister, it is like she got to a size and stopped growing, lol. The other one that has a nickname is Dover, Galena's brother, he tips the scales at 700grams, so gets called boof.

On Average males tend to be between 400g and 800g I do know of males who have been bigger and males who have been smaller. Females on average weigh between 198g and 400g Again I've known females who were smaller and ones who were bigger. As for what I call my ratties, normally baby or babies, sweetie, kids, squishy, boofy.

What a great starter for a post! Everyone loves baby talking their rats, I'm sure Podges! That is adorable and so accurate sounding! For my Pop and Tama boys, I can think of... Baby-pies Babies Bubbies Bubby-shnusshles Pumpkins beans Bean pies Shnookums Poppytama Tummy Pop-pop Poppit Tum-tum Poppit bean Tama bean Shmunchkins Shmoof-bunnies Little bunny Squish-muffin Muffin-pie Beans (usually used like 'the beans are being so cute right now!') Bean-pop Hanky (Pop's full name is Handkerchief Pop) Sir. Sneeze-a-lot (for Pop) Little rascal (for Tama) Little monster "My wittle kashnuffles" (very popular) etc, etc!!

I call my rats the 'Ratties' or amongst certain family members who don't like them 'the other small furry creatures unrelated to the dogs'. The babies are called 'eepers' when they're born, and 'fluffballs' when they get their furr in, and the boys are my 'cuddly teddy bears' The girls are just the 'rattykins', 'missy-moos' or 'bubbahlahs'. Depends on what mood I'm in, but really they are my babies
