Aww very cute rattys you have there. I would love a PEW, i haven't seen them around at all yet. Are the two boys neutered? Thanks Christie, The PEW isn't quiet a true white he has a very faint cream colour hood to him Very hard to photograph lol.. The boys arn't neutered but they boys and girls are in separate cages...

He is a Champagne Hooded Champagne is an off white / pale cream colour and the eye colour is Pink .. Many people confuse them for PEW rats .. its very easy to do, especially on Berkshire and Self rats Hoodeds make it a little easier to tell because the champagne hood is noticeable on top of the white body.

Oh and Christie the main reason you probably havent seen any PEW's around is that they are very hard to sell - adopt out - as not many people want them because they look like Lab rats..
Also PEW's as with any Pink Eyed rat have the worst eye sight of any rat and the wobble their heads about to try and focus on things .. it looks a bit strange and some people are a bit scared when they see it ..
Also because of the bad eye sight PEW rats are more likely to be biters.
So PEW rats are something that most breeders hate to see in a litter because they might not be able to adopt them out.

Yeah i knew about the pink eyed rats having bad eye sight. I just didn't realise people wouldn't be as inclined to want them. I think they are just beautiful. Then again i haven't seen a rat yet that i didn't think that about lol. I even love the hairless look, and am very sad that we don't have any healthy ones in Australia yet.

Lol, it was the reverse in Brisbane quite some years back... people only seemed to sell PEWs and beige coloured rats, the few black rats (well black hooded) that i met/saw were more agressive because no one wanted them. Not to mention, people find PEWs "scary" cause they don't like the pink eyes

Awww.. I do love seeing photos of other peoples rats. I cant wait to be in the main forums! These are my boys. This photo is a tad old.. they're now several months older and much, much bigger! Still just as cute though <3. The black one is Fable and the hooded is Sheikh (Yes, yes.. they have geeky video gamer names. Blame my boyfriend! lol).
