Here are some of my Harley rats. I have around 50 rats (not all Harleys) so am not gonna post all of them. The first two are of Pim (Runebound Pimpernel). She was my all-time favorite rat. She was a Black-eyed Siamese Self Dumbo Harley and was my first Harley. She loved kissing, giving high-fives and jumping to me (always had to be ready to catch!). She gave birth to 2 litter, the second of which was South Africa's first completely Harley litter. She sadly died middle of last year. Pim-no-legs Pim preparing to jump This is Gwyn (Runebound Gwyn Ap Nudd). He's a Mink Hooded Harley, carrying Dumbo and Siamese and is a veeeery big grumpy boy. He doesn't really like other male rats, unless they're submissive little boys who won't challange him ever. He hates being told off and if I do tell him off for something, he won't come to me for the rest of the day. Instead, he crab-walk and tried to dominate my hand, fluffs his fur and chatters his teeth. He also doesn't like all people. He's picky about who he'll go to and if he doesn't like you and you won't let him get away, he nips. Bt he's got personality and all of the its he's fathered are lovely and out-going. Gwyn: "You looking at me?" This is Gemini (Jackalhead Gemini). She's Pim and Gwyn's daughter and is a Black Berkshire Dumbo Harley, carrying Mink and Siamese. She has given birth to only one litter of 4 kits, all Harleys. She has a lovely temprement, very much like her mom and was the first breeding Harley in SA to not show mastitis when nursing (a problem we're breeding out of the Harleys). Gemini checking ut the treat I was dangling above her head

Thanks We don't have pouched rats in SA. They come from Gambia and are used in the more central african countries to sniff out landmines. A few people have looked into possibly getting a few to breed, but the amount of space they require, their smell (their urine is apparently similar to that of cats), the aggression between males and the costs to imports have prohibited this. MAybe we'll get later, in the future.

Oh gosh, it sounds like they'd take a lot of time to care for. I've seen videos of them as pets on you tube, they look very intelligent lol.

Daisy looks like she is a Dove Berkshire .. But I might be wrong about the colour as its sometimes hard to tell in some photos as the lighter colours can be changed by the flash or by inside lighting.. Milli is a Cinnamon Hooded. That one I can be sure of.
