Hi all,
I've been a rat mum for about 6 months now and the first 4 months were great, no issues at all. To cut s long story short, I had to leave my 2 girls (Ivy and Ciri) with my ex for about a month who didn't care for them well at all... when I got them back Ivy had developed sneezes and a single rather large sore on her cheek. I took her to the vet and we went through a course of antibiotics and an anti inflammatory (F10) cream for her sore... the sneezes cleared up but the sores have just been getting worse! (It's a good time to note that Ivy appears to be an over groomer)
I've been back to the vet for a topical antibiotic cream (it's only been 3 days) and dosed both girls with 0.02ml of revolution for kittens at the vet's suggestion (though they said they couldn't see anything on a hair sample under a microscope) but it doesn't seem to be making a difference and she's still scratching. Ciri is in perfect health and they share the cage (Ivy is the more assertive)...
Their cage is cleaned daily and they are on Origin rat food with some treats of berries and fresh vegetables daily... I've tried to cover the sores with a dressing and put her in a harness but it stayed on for all of 2 seconds (I swear she's liquid). I'm getting so stressed about Ivy and I don't know what to do to help her... please can someone advise something???
