Hello, I'm a Companion Animal Services Student from Perth WA who has a strong interest in rodents. I am looking for somewhere to volunteer to get some more experience handling rats and to help rat welfare as much as I can. I am currently working as an animal welfare officer at Cat Haven, so have some experience and am top of my class at TAFE. Is anyone aware of any orginisations I could get in contact with on this side of the world that might appreciate an eager volunteer? Also I am well aware of the problem of overpopulation in cats, is there a similar problem with rats or is there a genuine need for breeders? I would love to breed rats one day, but I was just wondering if there is a demand in it? Looking forward to hearing from you guys, its such a great forum Thanks, Jody

I would suggest contacting PRRR (that's the perth rat rescue). They might be a good place to start?
