Does anyone use a reverse light / dark cycle for their ratties so that they are asleep during the night and awake during the day?
I was thinking of putting a lamp on near their cage at night and putting a sheet over their cage during the day to simulate night but was a bit worried about the whole ventilation factor...

I have not heard of anyone doing this before. Though rattys will usually adjust to whatever cycle suits you the best. They will nap and that when the house is quiet and usually wake up when ever there is attention to be had. My guys will wake up as soon as i open the cage door and demand attention.

Thanks Christie - geez, you are a quick replyer!! I just wanted to make sure they weren't going to be mischevious in the night and wake me up!!

lol yeah i have nothing better to do usually, so i check the forums several times a day.
Well now that's another story. I think no matter what you do they will still be loud at night. I have only slept one night with the cage in my room and never again lol they might be little but they are noisy. Rattys sleep is much like a cat really, they will have bursts of sleep and then bursts of activity. Because we are awake during the day time they will usually have there bursts of activity when we are around and giving them attention. My guys are most active before i go to bed because its when i let them out to play and tidy their cage, full their food and what not.
