The Marchioro - Kit Tom 62Q looks awesome. It's got quite a price tag on it doesn't it? XD
Maybe if I get struck with this mysterious GMR I've heard so much about I'll go see about investing in one too >_>

hey, yeah they are great cages!!! very expensive though! but it would give your rats heaps of room to run around in, and plenty of room for hammocks!

Just wondering what the "optimum" size for three rats is? The last thing I want is for them to be cramped. What would be the signs in the rats if they were cramped?

If you do a google search you should be able to find a cage calculator or two. I normally would find a link and post it but i'm running out of time tonight.
Let us know if you have any troubles

here pagz, try this site: www.rattycorner.com/odds/calc.shtmlIf your rats are too cramped and don’t have enough room to run, i have heard that they can get aggressive toward each other and fight for space and places to sleep etc.

I must have very strange rats as they prefer to have less space. When they have a load of space they tend to become territorial and fight more. Although I could never understand when people said that rats would fight with not much space. As when you look at actual wild rats they have a set territory with one leader, if there is too much space then they break up into other groups and the second group has a leader as well, so fights break out. Yet if they are in a small area they can not divide into 2 groups. Of course I dont over croud my cages, I just mean that if I put 6 rats in a cage that can hold 16 rats then I tend to have more fights than when I have 16 rats in a cage that can hold 16 rats.

LOL .. no you are right to Colleen, as some rats will fight if they are kept in cages without enough room. One thing I have learnt in all my years with rats is that they are individuals and you do get the ones that act totally opposite to what the norm is. The main reason people suggest giving rats cages with plenty of room is because they feel its better for the rats to have a lot of space, but really in a living area like a cage, space isnt as important, especially if rats are given free time out of their cage every day. Free roaming / play time out side the cage every day for a few hours give the rats that excersise and room, so when they go back to their cage they mainly use it for sleeping, eating and toileting.

I have the same cage as Hayley, although I worked up to it (hence the 2 smaller cages sitting in my garage!). Because my girls were use to having the floor covered in the kitty litter, when I got this larger cage I pulled out the bottom and just left the tray, which I then covered with litter. But yes, there is a downside - Little Girl just LOVES to kick the litter everywhere, which I am constantly cleaning up. But I actually don't mind too much, it is just so adorable to see her shoveling litter everywhere, making a space for herself to lie in..or do her business in ;D

I have a Ferret Kingdom, however I am sadly noticing it is starting to rust! I've only had it a few months.
