Does anyone know what these cubes blocks are made from?
all 3 of my kids are allergic to nuts and it will be a consideration as to what food we feed our rats

I feed my lot a rat mix from the pet shop. They then usually get left overs from tea each night and then when they are out having play time they get treats eg, peas, noodles, cereal, nuts, eggs etc.
My ratties lurrrve food.
Especially: pasta, mashed potato, t-bones to munch on (which helps with teeth) vegies, eggs and biccies.

i feed mine a mixture of 3 different rat&mouse mixes. one of the mixes is particularly good except for heaps of sunflower seeds - i spent an hour picking out the sunflower seeds from a 1kg bag the other night! other than that they get heaps of fresh vegies, a little baby food every night (it's got baytril in it, shhh!) and a selection of yummies like puffed rice, puffed corn, oat bran flakes, home-grown herbs etc. sometimes they get treats like avocado sushi, toast etc. for those living in brisbane, there are two stores called 'simply good' which are paradise for ratty owners as they sell all kinds of grains, nuts, cereals, dried fruits, yoghurt drops etc. you buy however much you want by scooping it into bags. there's a list of what they carry on their website - www.simplygood.com.au/ there's a store in alderley and one in morayfield.

Oh I am trying to be so careful what I feed my ratty girls but they just LOVE some things that i know are not good for them too regularly... for example they adore cheese and cooked chicken. they also loved hard boiled egg and walnuts. Thankfully they also love soya yogurt, porridge, mixed cooked beans, corn, sweet potato, broccoli etc too. Have been trying to get them to eat fruit but three times now they have ignored apple and half heartedly tried some pear. Grapes and strawberries were totally ignored.

hehehe yehh thats rats for you mine didnt touch fruit either. they love there cooked veggies, beans, peas, and nuts and meat, but not fruit. Try cutting the grapes and strawberries in half so they can get a taste of whats inside. the more foods you introduce them too now, the better, so when they are older they will recognise the food they have tried and hopefully eat it. but rats will always pick out what they like and what they dont like lol, so nothing to stress about there.

I wonder why it is that your guys don't seam to like fruit. I have not yet found anything that my gang wont eat, unless there is meds hidden in if of course lol. Some things, like the dog food in their mix they will leave till very last, but it still gets eaten. I guess I'm lucky that way.

Yeh it was strange about the fruit, but come to think of it, they did eat come fruits but not much of it... they would just eat a few pieces and get bored of it lol. i remember they liked apple, Peanut once ran away with a whole apple in his mouth :0 ;D
