Hi guys and girls,
I thought i would make a new thread to intro myself a little better.
I am a SAHM to 4 children aged 10 years, 6 years, 3 years and 1.5 years old.
We have 2 cats, 1 dog, multiple fish tank containing guppies, fighters, cichlids and few other odd balls LOL.
We recently adopted 3 baby rats from a pet shop for our children (and me but don't tell hubby), all the babies are female, 2 are from the same litter approx 5-6 weeks old and the other one is from a different litter aged approx 7-8 weeks old.
I have also adopted the 5-6 week old one's mum and her new pinky as of yesterday as she was left at the pet shop for many reason but i could not get her out of my head so went and got her yesterday with her pinky (not planned on getting 2 more).
I owned a female rat when i was 13, I actually got her off a friend when she was around 10 months old because her mum told her she could not keep it. Her name was Rhonda and she lived to 4 years of age.
I did not keep rats again until quite a few years later, my first child was 1 when i purchased Emma from a terrible life in a cramped Aquarium with males and females fighting. 3 weeks later she added to our brood with 5 pinky's. 2 male, 3 female.
I kept 1 female and 1 male from her litter, the female was "runt" as she was the runt of the litter and the male was "aj", we got AJ neutered because he was quite dominant and fought with his brother and bullied the girls.
Unfortunately Emma passed away at approx 3 years (her age when purchased was unknown but i guessed around 10 months).
Runt passed away at nearly 3 years due to a massive tumor.
and AJ my fighter passed away at 4 years due to his organs failing.
It has been many years since i have owned rats due to the heartache when it is time to say goodbye, they have such short lives that you have just enough time to fall in love before you have to say goodbye.
If you got this far through and are still reading you are legends.
Oh BTW i am 30 years young and married LOL
Aimee
