I'd like to know what the stickers say as well But here is the photos of my Rat memorial tattoo, which is on my left arm between my elbow and wrist. The clouds repesent the fact my rats are no longer on earth and the Rainbow is for the Rainbow Bridge that all pets cross over. The Ivy is to represent the actual rat I got Tattooed. My very first Rex girl Ivy was born in at the start of 2004.

I'd have to double check what i have left... i think a couple that say rat lover on them and some that are just a single rat standing (colours left are purple, gold, black, red, silver & hot pink but i dont know which colour is left for which type)
I also have an aluminum sign that says "beware, rat lovers only" i think and a licence plate that says "rat lover" i think.... (sorry if im not too sure, i packed them up after last show cause i wouldnt be at the next one)
that tattoo is huge! i love the ivy around it too. It completes it.
im working on designing my next one, but it'll be a few years probably before i can get it done. It'll be my Wulfy rat. He'll be nestled between two large flowers (which one each will be picked by my aunt & grandma) then i'll have a lady bug representing my mum and a butterfly for my sister.

ok, after reading those tattoo posts I see you guys might understand why I did what I did when my first rats died (of various old age things.) back in the nineties. Each one was honoured. I wrapped the body in clean bandages with scented spices and handwritten love notes tucked in between layers, packed the mummy in seasalt inside a glass jar sealed with wax, buried in the farthest and deepest corner of the garden where they will never be disturbed.

wow that is interesting. I dont think I have ever heard of anyone else doing that, but I am sure that other people may have. My whole garden is pretty full of my lost ratties, we try to put a little rock on top of where they are, so we know not to dig there. Unfortunately our garden is pretty small so there isnt that much room, so I dont know what we will do when there is no more room. Some of my rats I have wraped in material that breaks down over time, but I normally prefer them to go into the ground and become part of the earth. Its always so sad when they pass away.

Thats a really lovely way to remember them! Mine are similar, we wrap them in material and bury them in my parents garden. My two rats that were PTS were even wrapped in material with a pretty bow by a lovely vet we go to. She is very caring and compasionate with my babies.
I love how you use spices and put notes with them. Thats really beautiful

Everyone says my Tattoo's are all huge, but I think they are small. Huge to me is like a whole back piece. The rat one did hurt in places and right after I was thinking never again would I get a tattoo done in that area, but now I'm already thinking about how I want to have the rat tattoo and the one of my mum, joined in a way by having butterflies and stuff tattooed over the rest of my arm to it all becomes one big piece. Although I think I would only get a bit at a time done, as my rat tattoo took about 2 hours in total to do. Brendan my tattooist did it in 2 one hour sessions, as I can normally only afford an hour at a time. So to get what I want on the rest of my arm will probably take more than a few hours. But I love tattoo's and to me its like being a walking art gallery and it shows people more of who I am and what I like, love and enjoy, than what they would see and know just looking at me without any tattoo's. If I am wearing a shirt which shows off my rat tattoo, I've had some very strange looks and some times I think why are they looking at me but then I think about the fact that most people still wouldnt see a woman with a tattoo on that part of the arm and especially one that most people consider big. Also the fact it is a rat probably throws people off as well as they probably at first think, what is it off. I have also had people ask me what I am going to do when I'm 80 and have all these tattoos which are faded or blurred and wrinkled or just look horrible. I just say to them, that I'm not going to do anything as I have no problem with my tattoo's growing old along with me, if people dont want to see an 80 year old womans tattoos then they shouldnt look at them then.

I bury my rats. I buried Pidge in a box, wrapped in a pink little crotchet blanket. Ratzilla was buried in a tampon box (that's how small he was) nestled in the pouch I had made for him to carry around my neck. I couldn't bear to keep the pouch. It was made for him, and I wanted him to have it. Clarice was buried in a box also. I was so... angry when I buried her. I didn't cry. I just walked out there and buried her. I miss him so much.

i dont think i would get a tatt that big though... too painfull. There's nothing scary or painful about it. Except in my case LoL. Funny story: Got my first tattoo (didnt tell parents i got it) then next day i came down with a horrible nasty 24 hour virus, which made me pass out twice. 2nd tat I got I passed out in the chair. It was most likely a lack of sugar, I was excited and ate breakfast really early, then by the time i got it done it was about 11am plus the combination of having it on my shoulder blade and the bone being right under there, it was necessarily painful but my body said it wanted to go into shock anyway. It was a little scary but as this was my 4th time in my life i'd passed out I knew what was going on. Just gave my friends a nasty scare and they very nearly didnt end up getting theirs My 3rd I was fine. I had a drink of juice before I went and took nice calm breaths and it was so very cruisy. I am very excited to go back and get my 4th very soon now I dont have to worry about how my body reacts. But this is how my body behaved and i'm sure there are many many people who will be perfectly fine getting a tattoo LMAO

I worked for a taxidermist when I was 18 til 21, so I was kind of interested in the macabre. I did work on some people's deceased pets but its not something I would ever do to my own loved friend because its not actually a very nice process.
These days I would probably do something more "environmentally friendly" like you say, going back into the earth. Like I compost all the litter.

I have a special book where i put photos and stories about my ratties who have passed on, it includes ever piece of info i can think of, funny photos, comments from people who knew the rat personally and any offspring they had. Its great to look at and remember the wonderful ratties i have had over the years. The paw print thing is a great idea, i might use it in the future.

My rats have been buried in the garden.
My Sweet-pea . Who just passed away a month ago has her own special rose garden. She was my first ever rat and started my love of the wonderful creatures.
