Well rats reach physical and social maturity at around 6 months old. Whish is when you can actually stop calling them pups. This makes a 6 month old rat equal to an 18 year old human. Personally I think a rat pup is a pup until at least 4 months. As most people dont get their new rats until they are at least 6 weekds old I figure that between 6 weeks and 4 months they are still babyish enough to be called pups still. I know a number of people though who call them pups only until they are 8 to 12 weeks old and after that they just get called rats.

Cheers for clearing that up Im assuming my rats are still pups are they are both quite small (both are about 5 inches from head to bum) I bought them from a pet shop and didnt even think to ask how old they are lol.
