Well rats reach physical and social maturity at around 6 months old. Whish is when you can actually stop calling them pups.
This makes a 6 month old rat equal to an 18 year old human.
Personally I think a rat pup is a pup until at least 4 months.
As most people dont get their new rats until they are at least 6 weekds old I figure that between 6 weeks and 4 months they are still babyish enough to be called pups still.
I know a number of people though who call them pups only until they are 8 to 12 weeks old and after that they just get called rats.
