hey guys im going to be the owner of 2 cute little ratties very soon, there around 5-6 weeks old and i still have no idea what im going to name them just want to ask if anyone has any tips for a first time rat owner? would be greatly appreciated

Hi Kellie! I would suggest having a read through the forum to pick up lots of tips. There's heaps of info around about rat ownership!

yep been having a good look around got my ratties last night, they are sooo cute, named on Vala and the other matilda, Vala is a very social rat and matilda stays in her nest mostly. will hopefull be able to post some pics soon

umm i think Vala is a fawn and Matilda is a hooded rat. Matilda is pretty much white but has the hood the same colour as Vala is, if that makes sense

Ohh what cuties. I love how drinking is never done solo. It's the same with my guys and girls as well. Always 2 (or more) drinking at once.
It looks like Matilda is actually a bareback not hooded. Unless she has some markings going down her back that I just can't see in that pic. I just love bearback's, I have a black one who has the cutest spot on his bum lol.

Matilda has a small dot on her back, does that mean shes still a bareback? i wasnt too sure what she was.

Yeah if she just has a spot she is still a bareback well more a miss marked bareback. Most pets are miss marked so usually don't bother with adding that in.

very cute pic i love it when my boys get into push and shove matches when they're both fighting over the drink bottle, they remind me of spoilt children lol

thanks rune, I'm bad at picking names lol, Vala was chosen because the meaning described her perfectly, can't remember what the meaning was now though lol and matilda is just a name ive always liked About the pic, I thought it was the cutest thing ive ever seen watching them both drinking from it and i just had to get a pic, even though they woke me up from the sound of drinking from it but after i woke up and saw them there i was like awwww and all was forgiven hehe heres a few more pics of my rats Vala Sleeping in her tunnel Vala in my hand, shes so tiny

lol, they are so cute i love their coolur i have a rat the same colour but she is a berkshire
