i don't think worming rats is a necessity (unless they are rescue/pet shop rats) they should be worm free. I think they can pick up parasites from eating live insects, but not many people actually do feed insects to rats, that im aware of

There is a spot-on all wormer for cats called Profender that does cover tapeworm, though I have never used it on rats, only on my cats. I assume it is safe for rats. It costs around $28 for two pipettes, so there are definitely cheaper options for tapeworms. Profender can not be used on Kittens under 0.5kg (500 grams) So would be useless to most rat owners unless their Adult rats weighed 500 grams or more. Where as Revolution doesnt have a minimum weight that the animal has to be for the product to be used. I'd also like to let people know that there is no point in buying the Aristopet small animal wormer for your rats as all it gets rid of is Roundworms. So isnt a complete wormer..
