What little cuties, soon enough they will be running around the cage madly. You can tell sexes right from day one. www.ratz.co.uk/sexingrats.html is a website that will help show you what to look for. The boys will have more of a gap than the girls. When we sexed our litter here we found it easier to find one that was a girl and just used her to compare the rest of them to.

The easiest way for someone with no experience at all, is to look at the babies now that they are just on a week old, its a perfect time to do it this way.. All the females will have nipples .. little spot tht run down both sides of the tummy. Males dont have nipples so you will be able to tell how many are girl and how many are boys because of that fact.

Enjoy it while you can as they grow super quick. Once their little eyes open they are so amazingly cute. Is mama rat friendly or nippy? The mama's can get nippy for a while. You're handling this very well. I freaked out when I bought my first pregnant pet store female rat. Mainly I was freaked about what to do with the babies, but one I got that sorted (I ended up keeping them all ), it was all good. For extra protein I gave the mum soy milk (made from soy baby milk) and also boiled eggs. Some people use ensure (from the chemist). Put liquids in a very shallow dishes just in case a baby ends up in there. When the babies start eating solid (at about 3 weeks) they got human baby cereal made with soy baby milk. Once again, have fun!

Most people around here cringe at the thought of my chosen pet but I don't think they understand what a great pet rats are, there loss I guess.. Thanks again ;D

Whilst I'd never ever breed rats intentionally, I have had a girl I rescued turn out to be pregnant and gosh the babies were so so much fun! Hope you're enjoying them!

Yeah its really not easy finding homes for them. We got lucky in that one member here was able to take 3 of them and someone else took 1. Its good to hear that you have decided to keep them though, youll have lots of fun with them
