Hello! My partner and I are in urgent need of a new home for our 3 female pet rats (Skadi, Freya and Ruby). We are moving house in a week and unfortunately our new landlord will not allow rats under any circumstances They are all around 1 year old (we've had them since they were babies) and have lovely natures. They come complete with cage, water bottle, food bowl (they have a hammock which they sleep in but it is in need of replacement after much use!). Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in providing a loving home for our three rat girls.

Hi - sorry about lack of info in initial post! First of all, we live in Woodend (Victoria) and will be moving to Bendigo in a few days. Skadi and Freya are both friendly and curious and love spending time with and on you. Ruby is much more timid (she was rescued from becoming snake food and hadn't had the early socialisation the other two had) but very pretty with pale fur and red eyes (hence her name). Skadi is grey, and Freya is tan and white. Skadi is the boldest one, but Freya has learnt from her example and also become just as outgoing. Freya loves to collect all the pieces of food and hoard them. Skadi has the strange habit of folding up the corners of the newspaper which is put in the bottom of the cage. She will do this as soon as any new paper is put there! We bought them all from a pet shop, after not being able to find any breeders anywhere nearby. They all love tomato, pasta, broccoli, and various other treats which they receive on a daily basis to supplement their rat and mouse mix. We always have a honey stick (which is actually for birds!) hanging up for them to nibble on. In the summer months they get to paddle in a large bowl of water to cool down. We let them out to run around our study for around an hour almost every day. We've been reluctant to advertise them locally, as I know there are many snake owners in the area who might buy them for food- an awful thought!

Hi Cassey, are you selling them? If so how much? Or are you giving them away to a good home? Do you keep them inside or outside? I live in Werribee. Angie

Hi, this is Luke, Cassy's partner. I am happy to deliver the Rats anywhere within a reasonable distance from Woodend and Werribee is fine. We are giving the rats free to good home including cage, waterbottle and hammock. I only want to be 100% sure that they are going as pets and not as Snake food which is why we posted on here and haven't advertised normally. If you want to PM or reply here with details then I am happy to deliver them almost immediately. I've posted this in the other thread too as it seems Cassy has duplicated it.

Hi Luke As there currently seems to be 2 people interested in your girls, I would suggest that you ask both people a couple of questions, to determine which one the girls would be suited to. Good Luck with whom ever you choose. Cheers Krissy

lol.. Hey Cassie, I know what you mean about how strange it is when there is a couple with the same name as you and your partner as I get the same thing with me and my husband. It seems there are a number of David & Kim couples out there to

I'd hate to have to give up my ratties..
When we first got my rat, we were unsure what the reaction of the landlord would be, but she seems to love them too
Whicih was a major relief. We did, however, have that hassle with out dog. We had it all confirmed saying we could have the house, and 2 days before moving in, the wife apparently said 'no dogs-regardless'.. So then we ended up in Runcorn xD

It is sad that landlords won't let people have pet rats - I can understand larger animals which could make a mess, but provided rats aren't free ranged near skirting boards and other chewable things, I think it should be fine.
