I don't really bath my rats... But they get in the shower with me, and I'll give their tails a little rinse while we're in there. Luckily they are okay with water. Nico spends most of the shower perched on my foot cleaning his lovely fur.

Re: Will this cage be big enough? « Result #9 Today at 10:40am »
I've actually being refining the design of my cage. The next version will have a drawer down the bottom for storage and it'll be easier to put together. We have a machine at work that can cut all the pieces out, then they just need to be screwed together.
I'm trying to talk my mum into letting me make a few more for people I've had ask me.

Hi rune,
I'm glad to hear you have already separated Abu and Zuri, Zuri will be grateful! Have you learnt to sex the babies yet? This will be your next important job, separating the boys from the girls at 5 weeks.
This is how you post a picture: First you need to upload the picture to a site like Photobucket.com Then you need to find the direct link for the picture and copy that Then, back on the forums, press the button that looks like a picture frame Then you just insert your link between the img tags and you should be good to go.
I hope that helps and I look forward to seeing your ratties!

Hi Kelly
Would love for someone to give us an idea of colours. We've been doing lots of reading and think Abu is a dove (although his head is lighter) and Zuri we were calling chocolate (but it doesnt seem to be a colour??)
Abu and Zuri are in separate cages when we noticed Zuri get fat. We had a litter of nine on 11th Dec. The babies are a mix of hood, berkshire and unknown (light colours).
We are not sure how to put up pics???? but would love to show you and get some comments

Hi rune, welcome to the forum. If you post some pictures maybe we can help you identify what colours Zuri and Abu are. And of course, we love to see pictures of everyone's furries.
However you will need to get separate cages for Zuri and Abu, or get them desexed. Rats reproduce very quickly and are fertile from five weeks of age. Baby rats take a lot of looking after. All of them need to be properly socialized and they will all need loving homes.
Zuri is probably already pregnant so you are going to have babies soon. You'll need to separate them before Zuri gives birth, because female rats come into heat as soon as they have given birth, and she will get pregnant again. It is very unhealthy for female rats to have two litters so quickly, and the second litter will be very sickly because Mum will be busy trying to raise her first litter. So please separate them!
Re: Why do my girls cover their food? « Result #17 Yesterday at 12:40pm »
Our female covers her food only when she is in the same cage as the male, we persume she is hiding it from him He doesn't touch it unless the cloth is off the food
Re: Bathing Rats « Result #18 Yesterday at 12:30pm »
we bath our male rat every now and then to minumis the smell which is very confusing for our cat which is a good thing as our cat loved to catch any little criters that are running around in the house when we were a lot younger but we dont bath him in the sink we bath him when we have showers as we tried this and he seemed to like it more as he put his head under the water
Re: Are rats noisy critters? « Result #19 Yesterday at 11:59am »
i have my two rats in my room but they dont seem to wake me up and according to my parent im a lite sleeper but my sis is a heavy sleeper and they dont wake either of us so i would't be able to tell u wether our rats are noisy i no Abu water bottle make nosie when he drinks out of the but he also has a dish i just suppose it depends on the personality of the rat/s
